Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
- The Associate Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be responsible for managing and resolving the most challenging issues for the ServiceNow SRE team focusing on instance performance, reliability and availability.
- The successful candidate will be able to quickly gain an understanding of the ServiceNow platform.
- This is a technical role and requires strong trouble shooting skills as well as strong technical skill.
- Provide relief and sustainable resolution to issues within our infrastructure.
- Use your experience in software development, systems engineering and networking to proactively prevent repeatable issues.
- Drive initiatives with partner teams to improve the reliability and performance of the infrastructure through improved system design.
- Drive a culture of intolerance to manual activity which results in a highly automated environment delivering scalable solutions.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science / engineering or equivalent.
- Basic Knowledge of ITIL driven IT Operations – Incident, Problem & Change Management.
- Experience working well in a team environment while also being able to work productively while unsupervised
- Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate solutions to technical problems
- Excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
- Experience working on Unix/Linux environment
- Basic understanding of Networking skills, IP addressing and routing.
- Ability to work 4 days (10 hours mostly Wed- Sat)
The following additional skills are preferred but not required:
- Experience TCP/IP, Networking knowledge
- Experience with Splunk
- Familiarity with Configuration Management tools like Ansible and Puppet
- Working knowledge of the components in a web applications stack.
- Experience diagnosing performance degradation (e.g. explain plans, database tuning)
- Understanding of relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, Postgres)
- Familiarity with one (or more) scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, Perl, Unix Shell, Windows Shell)
- Familiarity with monitoring of large and scalable systems, applications and networks.
